Xbox Live’s “Breeze” Is Not a Flower Clone

August 19, 2010 in News

Now before everyone gets into an uproar accusing the newest game from Null City Software of cloning last year’s unique downloadable title ‘Flower’; you’re dead wrong. Though similar in aesthetic, Breeze can’t have more to do with thatgamecompany’s Playstation Network release.

Instead of using motion controls to guide flower petals in a vast landscape Breeze has the player taking control of a fan to guide a single flower though an obstacle course littered with hazards to reach the goal. There are 60 levels in all and they are set throughout the four seasons of the year each with its own unique traps, collectables and difficulty from the, “very easy to the infuriatingly hard.” The soundtrack has a chilled and lifting style with an emphasis on smooth music which compliments to the aesthetic of the game well.

Rob Hutchinson, the sole developer behind Null City Software, has done impressive work with this title including single handedly custom building the Kitae Engine which Breeze runs on. Breeze is currently on the Xbox Live Indie Games Market Place and is priced at 240 Microsoft Points ($3.00).
